Peta | Behind the Leather

Ogilvy & Mather Advertising Bangkok teamed up with PETA Asia to launch this shocking pop-up shop in one of Bangkok’s hippest shopping malls to show consumers the suffering behind every exotic-skins bag, belt, jacket, and pair of gloves or shoes.

This is great! Right up my street.

Subaru’s Dogs Adverts

There are two more, but I though these were the funniest. Very funny, very sweet!

“Subaru is happily embracing that last stereotype with its new “Meet the Barkleys” campaign. The four 30-second spots (and website) follow the Subaru-loving Barkley clan as they deal with everyday situations from teenage dating dramas to family road trips to a dad getting chastised for paying a little too much attention to an attractive female. You know, stuff that everyone can relate to.”

Elephant Plays with a Galaxy Note!

One of the reasons I am a vegetarian – because animals are more intelligent and creative than people realise. Elephants and pigs have similar intelligence (near to orangutans and monkeys, the most intelligent animals after human-animals), yet the average person wouldn’t even consider eating an elephant. If sheep, cows, pigs had trunks, I’m sure they’d be able to do this too…
Probably one of the most amazing videos I have ever seen. Genuinely warmed my heart.

The awards received for this ad are very well deserved, in my opinion. Usually I don’t find anything animal related (like an animal rug) funny, but this advert is the epitome of hilarity. I think you don’t really expect the ending, and even the beginning was ambiguous, but I think the funniest part is the characteristics given to the bear and how much thought the creatives have put into giving this bear a personality.

The message might not be as clear and straightforward as some adverts, but that’s the beauty of it. In France, I’m sure it has been an advert to remember and one that gets TV viewers giggling. Such a shame it wasn’t for an international company, because I’d love to see this advert in the UK!
